Important Health Information

Understanding DEXA Scanning

DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scanning uses low-dose X-ray technology to measure body composition and bone density. While DEXA scanning is considered very safe, with radiation exposure comparable to a cross-country flight, certain individuals should not receive DEXA scans:

  • Pregnant women or women who may be pregnant
  • Individuals who have had recent contrast dye or barium studies
  • Individuals exceeding equipment weight limits

Medical Advice Disclaimer

Important: DEXA scan results are for informational purposes only and should not replace professional medical advice. Always consult with your healthcare provider about your scan results and before making any changes to your health, fitness, or nutrition programs.

Your Responsibilities as a Patient

To ensure the best possible service, we ask that you:

  • Provide accurate and complete information about your health
  • Inform us if you are or may be pregnant
  • Arrive on time for scheduled appointments
  • Give 24-hour notice for cancellations
  • Treat our staff and other patients with respect
  • Follow preparation instructions for your scan
